![]() ![]() Liberal, diverse, and fun city in predominantly conservative state. I lived in Austin for 2 years prior to moving here and frankly speaking Columbus is just a colder version of Austin. College atmosphere makes it great as well. Have nice multicultural and fun places to visit like short north and north market. The people are extremely nice, there are four seasons, and it's very naturally beautiful. I moved from Austin last year and it's been very fun getting acclimated to Columbus. I have been here one year and it's been really great. But if you’re from Appalachia, or a depressed industrial town - come on in!Įveryone just wants to complain online, BUT THE CITY IS GREAT!Ĭolumbus is great. About all we can do here is dream of cities on the coast. Public transportation is a barely adequate bus only system. Suburbia isn’t much better with a muddle of cookie cutter developments scattered through out the metro. With no national developers, the local one’s don’t design anything over 12 stories max, the central business district is badly outmoded parking lots and just plain lacking. The downtown never really came together, and this isn’t helped by the presence of local neighborhood commissions who don’t want to see any new developments over six stories and not in red brick. The best thing about Columbus is and always will be the Ohio State University, which drives the local culture and economy. An absolutely delicious and well-prepared meal!Ĭhurros topped with fried ice cream sweetly capped off dinner at Diver Cantina.Truthfully, Columbus looks good compared to the towns and depressed cities around it, and to areas of West Virginia and Kentucky. The enchiladas featured free-range chicken in a mild guajillo sauce topped with a blend of Oaxaca and Cojita cheeses. Thus, we ordered the Guajillo Chicken Enchiladas with mole. My husband and I both LOVE mole, so we did have to try Diver's mole. Guajillo Chicken Enchiladas topped with a delicious mole. The fajitas were absolutely heavenly - easily our favorite portion of the meal. Blue corn tortillas accompanied the fajitas. In addition to the yummy potato flautas, we jumped at the chance to try the Market Vegetable Fajitas. I found it pretty impressive that Diver offers an array of flavors and some really solid veggie choices. Main entrees offered various flavors including fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, burrito bowls and more. Market Vegetable Fajitas were just as tasty as they were vibrant. Tip: Diver has amazing patio seating, so take advantage if it is available on your visit. The pico de Gallo really made the dish and we quite liked the potato flauta filling. I loved that they spiraled out in a star. Our potato flautas were perfectly plated. Other unique shareables include The Tropical Guacamole featuring guacamole with avocado, garlic, cilantro, lime, mango, pomegranate and Pico de Gallo as well as the Street Corn Elote and Brussels Sprouts featuring roasted sweet corn, brussels sprouts, chipotle aioli, Cojita cheese, and tajin.Ī pinwheel of potato flautas presented a lovely shareable appetizer at Diver Cantina. I will admit, I am a potato fan! So, we did have to order the potato flautas. We did have to start with a shareable, of course! Diver's menu features potato flautas. ![]() We ordered a Berry Mojito which featured a wildberry puree. We had such a difficult time settling on our meals for the evening since there were so many choices! Good thing Diver has a great list of special cocktails ideal for sitting, sipping, and relaxing. We enjoyed sitting for a moment soaking in the island vibe.Ī lovely basket of fresh chips and salsa for a little noshing.Ĭhoosing Dinner from a Menu Based on Family Recipesĭiver Cantina features beachy Mexican cuisine crafted from family recipes. Perfect for a little noshing as we began our evening. So, our Diver journey began!ĭiver's tropical ambiance transports guests to the islands without leaving Highland Park.ĭiver welcomed us with a lovely basket of chips and salsa. Visiting on a rather chilly day, the island vibe buoyed our spirits. Upon walking into the new Diver Cantina North Shore, we felt the island vibe of the eatery immediately. ![]()
